On the night and morning of 22 September, Russian forces carried out a mass drone and missile strike on 13 Ukrainian oblasts and Kyiv. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky reported the attack on Telegram, describing it as a deliberate strike on businesses, farms, warehouses, railways, energy infrastructure, and residential buildings.
In Dnipro, a missile strike killed four people and injured six; rescue services continued working at the site. Significant destruction was reported in Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad, and Russians carried out a combined strike on three cities in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Food warehouses, enterprises, and a furniture workshop were hit in Dnipro, and rescuers were checking for people possibly trapped under rubble.
In Poltava, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr oblasts, the enemy attacked energy and railway infrastructure, and several electrical substations in different regions were hit overnight. In Kyiv, a Russian drone struck a multi-storey residential building, injuring five people. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported hits by missiles and strike drones at 22 locations and debris falling at four locations. Ukrainian air defense said it intercepted one Kalibr cruise missile, eight Banderole strike drones, and 177 drones launched from the evening of 21 September, neutralizing 186 aerial targets in total. Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivsky said more than 500 rescuers and police officers were deployed to attack sites and that all fires from the strike had been extinguished.
