What happened

On the night of September 11 (from 18:00 on September 10), Russian forces struck Ukraine with an S8000 "Banderol" cruise missile launched from Belgorod Oblast and 161 strike drones launched from the directions of Orel, Kursk, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as from the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea. The drone salvo included Shahed models — including jet-powered variants — as well as Gerbera and "Parodia" decoy drones. Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine's Defense Forces engaged the incoming targets.

As of 08:00 on September 11, the Air Force reported that 138 of the enemy drones had been shot down or suppressed, with the figure described as preliminary. Direct hits by enemy air attack means were recorded at 19 locations, and falling debris from downed targets was recorded at 3 locations. The Air Force warned that the attack was still ongoing in the morning and that enemy drones remained in Ukrainian airspace.

In Kyiv, the strike caused a fire in a nine-story residential building in the Dnipro district, with the facade burning from the first to the fifth floor and an apartment on the second floor catching fire. At least seven people were injured in the capital. The Kyiv Oblast Military Administration reported fires at warehouses in the Bucha district. Explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and other regions. Separately, Russian forces attacked Dnipro and the Nikopol and Kamianske districts with drones and artillery, wounding two men.
