Zircon
Zircon (also spelled Tsirkon) is a Russian hypersonic anti-ship cruise missile under development by the Tactical Missiles Corporation (previously NPO Mashinostroyeniya). Designed to strike naval and ground targets, it uses an air-breathing scramjet propulsion system on an aeroballistic flight profile. As of recent public reporting, it remains in late-stage testing rather than mass serial production.

The Russian army has sharply increased its use of RM-48U missiles — originally intended as targets for air-defense crews — against Ukraine, with these 'target missiles' now accounting for the majority of Russian ballistic and hypersonic strikes in July and early August. Ukrainian intelligence and analysts say the shift is depleting Ukrainian interceptor stockpiles while Russia hoards higher-end missiles like Iskander, KN-23, Zircon and Kinzhal for a winter campaign.
