Why it matters

The large number of clashes and the scale of Russian air, drone and artillery attacks indicate sustained high-intensity fighting and a continuing threat to Ukrainian troops and civilians. The concentration of fighting on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka fronts makes these areas a focal point of the current battlefield.

What happened

Ukraine's Defence Ministry reported 184 combat clashes over the past day. The largest concentration of fighting was on the Pokrovsk front, where Ukrainian forces stopped 17 attacks around Sergiivka, Molodetske and Novopavlivka, with assaults also directed toward Toretske, Vilne, Novyi Donbas, Chernihivka and Dobropillia. Ten attacks were recorded on the Kostiantynivka front around the cities of Kostiantynivka and Druzhkivka, while nine were repelled on the Huliaipole front. Six attacks were also repelled on the Lymanske and six on the Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi fronts, while Russian forces attacked twice near Nikonorivka and Mykolaivka on the Sloviansk front.

How Ukrainian sources describe it

Ukrainian reporting focused on the number of clashes, attacks and shellings by front and locality. Particular attention was given to the high level of activity on the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka fronts, as well as strikes on settlements in Sumy and Chernihiv regions. The reports also included estimates of Russian personnel losses over the past day and since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Background

On the Kupiansk, Kramatorsk, Oleksandrivsk, Orekhiv and Prydniprovsk fronts, Russian forces did not conduct active attacks or assaults. No signs of the formation of offensive groupings were detected on the Volyn and Polissia fronts.
