Key points
- 206 combat clashes recorded on the frontline on 6 September.
- Pokrovs'k axis saw 38 of those attacks; preliminary figures cite 69 occupiers eliminated there.
- Russian forces carried out 59 air strikes and dropped 208 guided bombs in a single day.
- Over 5,300 kamikaze drones and 1,957 strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements were recorded.
- ISW assesses that Russian advance rates increased somewhat in August, but the spring-summer offensive has not achieved operational maneuver.
- Total Russian personnel losses since the start of the full-scale invasion stand at around 1,496,440, per Ukrainian estimates.
Why it matters
The Pokrovs'k axis continues to absorb the largest share of Russian offensive pressure, accounting for 38 of the day's 206 clashes. Even as analysts note slightly faster Russian advance rates in August, ISW judges that the spring-summer offensive has failed to achieve operational maneuver or break Ukrainian defensive lines. Sustained daily bombardment — 59 air strikes, 208 guided bombs and more than 5,300 kamikaze drones — underscores the intensity of Russia's air and drone campaign alongside its ground assaults.
