Zelensky meets Trump at UN General Assembly, urges him to involve Xi Jinping in efforts to end war
On 22 September on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, President Volodymyr Zelensky met US President Donald Trump and urged him to bring Chinese leader Xi Jinping into efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine, citing Xi's influence over Vladimir Putin. Zelensky said he is ready to meet Putin and that Trump could help organise a trilateral meeting. The two leaders also discussed a possible energy ceasefire, licences for Ukraine to produce Patriot missiles, and the use of Starlink for strikes on Russian territory.
