Ukraine's NABU and SAPO announced 'Operation Carthage' on 4 September, exposing a criminal organization led by Office of the Prosecutor General official Serhiy Kropyva, accused of extorting bribes from fraudulent call centers and laundering proceeds. On 6 September, the High Anti-Corruption Court placed Kropyva in custody with an alternative bail of UAH 120 million. Court materials portrayed Kropyva as a 'trusted person' of Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko, who denied any involvement and suspended the implicated employee.
