Viktor Yushchenko
Viktor Yushchenko is a Ukrainian politician who served as the third President of Ukraine from 2005 to 2010. Before entering politics he worked as a banker and headed the National Bank of Ukraine in the late 1990s, later serving briefly as prime minister. He rose to international prominence as the leader of the Orange Revolution in 2004, when mass protests forced a rerun of a disputed presidential runoff that he then won. His presidency was marked by a declared course toward European integration, recognition of the 1932–33 Holodomor as a genocide, and policies aimed at strengthening Ukrainian national identity and language.
