JD Vance is an American Republican politician serving as the 50th Vice President of the United States since January 2025. A United States Senator from Ohio from 2023 to 2025, he first gained national prominence with his 2016 memoir "Hillbilly Elegy," a personal account of growing up in the working-class communities of Appalachia. He is a leading voice of the populist, post-Trump wing of the Republican Party and has been a notable skeptic of further large-scale military aid to Ukraine.
