Russian strikes damage Vinnytsia energy infrastructure, triggering emergency blackouts overnight into October 18
Russian forces struck critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia Oblast overnight into Sunday, October 18, causing emergency power outages, according to oblast head Natalia Zabolotna. The attack came a day after one of the heaviest strikes on the region since the start of the full-scale invasion left Vinnytsia city completely without electricity, halted its main water pumping station, and injured six people. Russian drones also hit energy facilities near Staryi Vyshnivets in Ternopil Oblast. Energy workers were working to restore supply, but Zabolotna warned the situation would remain unstable in the near term.
