Ukrainian anti-corruption court detains suspect in 'Carthage' case tied to prosecutor's office
On September 7, Ukraine's Higher Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) placed Yelyzaveta Ivakhnenko, a suspect in NABU's "Operation Carthage," in custody with an alternative bail of 20 million hryvnias. The prosecution had requested 50 million. Ivakhnenko, 24, is alleged to have helped Serhiy Kropyva, a deputy head at the Office of the Prosecutor General, launder proceeds from a scheme that allegedly "roofed" fraudulent call centers. Kropyva was placed in custody on September 6 with a bail of 120 million hryvnias.
