Five suspected members of ‘Carthage’ crime group charged as Ukrainian court detains senior police official
Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau and Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office said five suspected members of a criminal organization uncovered in the “Carthage” operation had been notified of suspicion. The group allegedly linked law-enforcement officials with criminal figures and provided protection for fraudulent call centres, drug sales and other illegal businesses. On November 5, the Higher Anti-Corruption Court detained senior National Police official Volodymyr Tsenov for 60 days, with a 15 million hryvnia bail alternative, and also detained Vitalii Rybalko without the option of bail.
