At Ramstein meeting, U.S. and NATO frame Ukraine war as prolonged, announce over $10 billion in weapons funding
At a virtual September 8 meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format) co-chaired by Germany and the United Kingdom, U.S. Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Elbridge Colby told partners to prepare for a prolonged conflict, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said allies have directed more than $10 billion over the past year to the PURL initiative and to U.S. weapons purchases for Ukraine. Ukraine and several partners announced new air-defense pledges aimed at reinforcing Ukraine ahead of winter.
