Sergey Naryshkin
Sergey Naryshkin is a Russian state official who has served as director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) since 2016. He previously chaired the State Duma, the lower house of the Russian parliament, from 2008 to 2012, and before that served as chief of staff and aide to President Vladimir Putin. Born in Leningrad and trained as an engineer, he worked in Soviet and Russian intelligence from the 1980s onward. He is regarded as one of Putin's closest associates and has been placed under sanctions by several Western countries.
