Refat Chubarov
Refat Chubarov is a Crimean Tatar politician and civic leader who has chaired the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People, the representative body of the Crimean Tatars, since 2013. He is a prominent advocate for the territorial integrity of Ukraine and a vocal opponent of Russia's 2014 annexation of Crimea, on which he has campaigned internationally. After the annexation, he went into exile in mainland Ukraine and continues to work on human-rights issues related to the peninsula. He is a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
