Rabbi Nachman of Breslov
Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772–1810) was a Ukrainian rabbi and the founder of the Breslov Hasidic dynasty, one of the most widely known branches of Hasidism. Born in Medzhybizh and buried in Uman, he lived much of his life in what is today Ukraine and was a great-grandson of Israel Baal Shem Tov, the founder of Hasidism. His teachings emphasised simple, joyous prayer, personal attachment to God, and the value of every individual Jew. Each year on Rosh Hashanah, tens of thousands of Breslov Hasidim make a pilgrimage to his tomb in Uman.

Israeli police arrive in Uman to help secure Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage
Israeli police have arrived in Uman, Cherkasy Oblast, to maintain public order alongside Ukrainian law enforcement during the annual Hasidic Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage. Israeli and Ukrainian officers, joined by State Emergency Service rescuers and National Guard troops, are conducting joint patrols and outreach to pilgrims. Police describe the situation in the city as stable and controlled.
