Rabbi Nachman of Breslov
Rabbi Nachman of Breslov (1772–1810) was a Ukrainian rabbi and the founder of the Breslov Hasidic dynasty, one of the most widely known branches of Hasidism. Born in Medzhybizh and buried in Uman, he lived much of his life in what is today Ukraine and was a great-grandson of Israel Baal Shem Tov, the founder of Hasidism. His teachings emphasised simple, joyous prayer, personal attachment to God, and the value of every individual Jew. Each year on Rosh Hashanah, tens of thousands of Breslov Hasidim make a pilgrimage to his tomb in Uman.

Israeli police arrive in Uman to help secure Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage
Israeli police have arrived in Uman to work alongside Ukrainian law enforcement on public order and security during the Rosh Hashanah pilgrimage. Joint patrols with Ukrainian police, State Emergency Service rescuers and National Guard personnel are under way, and the Cherkasy Oblast police describe the situation as stable and controlled.
