Przemysław Czarnek
Przemysław Czarnek is a Polish politician and lawyer, a longtime member of the Law and Justice (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, PiS) party and a close ally of its leader Jarosław Kaczyński. He served as Minister of Education and Science in the governments of Mateusz Morawiecki from 2020 to 2023, where he pursued a conservative agenda that included reforms to the national curriculum and restrictions on what he described as liberal influences in schools. After PiS lost the October 2023 parliamentary elections, he remained an MP in the Sejm and became one of the most visible opposition voices against the cabinet of Donald Tusk.

Ukrainian citizen kills one or two priests in knife attack at Polish Benedictine monastery
A 31-year-old Ukrainian citizen attacked people with a knife at the Benedictine sisters' monastery in Jarosław, southeastern Poland, on the morning of 24 September, killing at least one priest and injuring five other people. Polish police arrested the suspect at the scene and seized the weapon, a knife taken from the monastery kitchen. The motive is unknown and under investigation.
