Ukraine's Prosecutor General Kravchenko resigns after anti-corruption "Carthage" operation
Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko submitted his resignation on the evening of 7 September, days after NABU and SAPO announced Operation "Carthage" targeting an alleged scheme in which officials in his office took monthly payments to protect a network of fraudulent call centres. The main suspect, deputy head of the OGP's international cooperation department Serhiy Kropyva, was taken into custody with bail set at 120 million hryvnia. Kravchenko denies any wrongdoing and called his departure a "political decision."
