Russian strikes knock out three steel plants behind 90% of Ukraine's steel output
Russian ballistic missiles in August and September put three of Ukraine's largest metallurgical plants — Zaporizhstal, Kametstal and ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih — out of operation. Together they produced about 90% of Ukraine's steel, and Metinvest's Oleksandr Vodoviz says Ukraine "no longer has a steel industry." At least 17 workers have been killed and more than 15,000 are employed at the affected facilities.
