Russian drones strike Kyiv's Pivdennyi Bridge for first time since start of full-scale invasion
On 1 October, Russian drones struck the Pivdennyi (Southern) Bridge in Kyiv near its support structure during the daytime while a metro train was crossing it, halting metro and bus traffic across the bridge. A second evening strike hit the roadway, and a further strike was reported overnight into 2 October. Preliminary inspection found no critical damage from the daytime hits; the evening strike reportedly damaged the bridge support, crash barrier, road surface and protective metro enclosure. The events are described as the first recorded Russian strikes on a major Kyiv transport bridge across the Dnipro since the start of the full-scale invasion.
