Magnus Brunner is an Austrian-born German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He serves as European Commissioner for Internal Affairs and Migration in the European Commission under Ursula von der Leyen, taking office in 2024. Before moving to Brussels he was a state minister in Baden-Württemberg, heading the regional finance ministry.

The European Commission is finalising plans to tighten visa rules for Russian citizens travelling to the EU as tourists, citing the need to protect against hybrid attacks.
