Katherina Reiche
Katherina Reiche is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). She served in the Bundestag and headed the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety from 2009 to 2013. In 2025 she joined the coalition government of Friedrich Merz as Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Kyiv on 4 October on an unannounced visit, accompanied by Economy Minister Katherina Reiche and about ten business leaders from the defense and energy sectors. He said Ukraine needs Germany's full support in the coming weeks and warned that if Russia is not stopped, its war machine will eventually turn against Europe. According to government sources, Berlin plans to release around 1 billion euros for long-range weapons production and an additional 350 million euros to repair and rebuild destroyed power plants, and to deliver thousands of interceptor drones to counter jet-powered Russian combat drones.
