John Herbst
John Herbst is an American diplomat and foreign policy expert who served for many years in the U.S. State Department. He was the United States Ambassador to Ukraine from 2003 to 2006 and previously served as the U.S. Coordinator of Assistance to the Newly Independent States. He is currently a senior director at the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center and is a frequent commentator on U.S. policy toward Ukraine, Russia and the former Soviet Union.

Zelenskyy names UAE, Switzerland and Turkey as possible sites for next Ukraine–US–Russia trilateral talks
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on September 8 that the next trilateral meeting between Ukraine, the United States and Russia could take place this autumn in the UAE, Switzerland or Turkey, with energy, grain and prisoner exchanges on the agenda. He described energy as a "painful" issue on which Kyiv is ready to compromise, but said a decision on holding the meeting has not yet been made.
