Trump claims Russia–Ukraine "energy ceasefire" is in effect; Kyiv and Moscow do not confirm it
US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social on October 11 that an "energy ceasefire" between Russia and Ukraine had taken effect immediately and that both sides had agreed to it. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky told Axios the announcement was news to him, though he said Ukraine would agree if Russia did; neither Kyiv nor Moscow publicly confirmed the deal. Russia struck energy facilities in Kyiv and Kharkiv around the time of the post, and European leaders, while backing the idea of an energy ceasefire, said Russia was continuing and even intensifying its attacks.
