Haakon
Crown Prince Haakon is the heir apparent to the Norwegian throne, the elder son of King Harald V and Queen Sonja. Born in 1973, he became heir when his father ascended to the throne in 1991. He married Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby in 2001 and has two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus. Haakon carries out representative duties on behalf of the Norwegian royal family and regularly participates in state ceremonies and official visits with foreign leaders.
