Gitanas Nausėda
Gitanas Nausėda is a Lithuanian politician serving as President of Lithuania, a position he has held since 2019. Before entering politics, he worked in the financial sector, including as an economist at the Bank of Lithuania and as chief adviser on economic policy to the president. He was elected on an independent platform and is known for his strongly pro-European and pro-NATO stance, as well as Lithuania's vocal support for Ukraine.

NATO fighter jets shoot down drone in Lithuanian airspace for first time
During the night of September 14–15, NATO fighter jets shot down a drone that had entered Lithuanian airspace, the first such intercept in Lithuania. President Gitanas Nausėda announced the shootdown on X, thanking Allied personnel. The Lithuanian Armed Forces had warned residents of a probable air threat around midnight, and Vilnius Airport and the airspace above it were temporarily restricted.
