US House to vote next week on Graham-Blumenthal Russia sanctions bill
The US House of Representatives is scheduled to vote next week on the Graham-Blumenthal Russia sanctions bill, which would authorize President Donald Trump to impose 100% tariffs on the five largest buyers of Russian crude oil and natural gas and on the five largest countries helping Russia evade energy sanctions. The bill, which also provides for mandatory sanctions on Russian leadership, the energy sector, defense industry cooperators, and the shadow fleet, passed the Senate 86-11 on August 7, 2026, but faces uncertain prospects in the House over concerns about expanding presidential tariff authority.
