Democrats win both chambers of Congress, opening the way for a new Ukraine aid package
Democrats took control of the US Senate and House of Representatives in the 3 November 2026 midterm elections, positioning themselves to introduce a new aid package for Ukraine when the new Congress takes office on 3 January 2027. President Volodymyr Zelensky expects stronger US support to help bring Russia closer to negotiations, while President Donald Trump said he was ready to work with the Democratic majority.
