Zelensky says Oleshky ceasefire shows a rapid truce is possible without buffer zones
Volodymyr Zelensky said the humanitarian ceasefire in occupied Oleshky showed that a ceasefire can be established quickly without lengthy preparation, weapons withdrawals or buffer zones. He proposed drones and video evidence for monitoring. The October 27–November 1 mission enabled the evacuation of 167 civilians, while Ukraine and Russia used US mediation and disagreed over the broader number evacuated.
