Christoph Blocher
Christoph Blocher is a Swiss politician and businessman, best known as one of the leading figures and principal financiers of the Swiss People's Party (SVP/UDC), the country's right-conservative populist force. He served as a member of the Federal Council (the Swiss government), heading the Federal Department of Justice and Police from 2003 to 2007, and has long been a National Council member. He is credited with pushing the SVP's transformation into Switzerland's largest party and is a vocal advocate of strict neutrality, restrictive immigration policy and skeptical relations with the European Union.
