Russia strikes Kyiv with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones overnight into 19 October; one killed, eight injured
Russia launched a massive combined strike on Kyiv overnight into 19 October 2025, using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones. A 21-year-old woman was killed and the number of injured rose from initial reports of three to eight. Damage was recorded in at least three districts, hitting residential buildings, a medical facility, an educational institution, a shopping centre and a ground-level metro station on the red line. Ukrainian sources said Ukraine did not receive advance warning from partners about the ballistic launch, a claim disputed by some monitoring channels; US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he did not know why early warning may have been absent.
