NATO jets shoot down drone in Lithuanian airspace for first time
In the night of September 14–15, 2026, NATO fighter jets shot down a drone in Lithuanian airspace after it entered from Belarus, according to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda. It is the first reported case of NATO jets directly destroying a drone in Lithuania. Vilnius Airport was temporarily restricted, residents received mobile alerts, and a yellow-level air-raid alert was declared in southern Lithuania and Kaunas. No casualties or damage were reported.
