Hungary unblocks EU accession clusters 2 and 3 for Ukraine
On 7 October, the EU Council's working group on enlargement (COELA) approved screening results for clusters 2 "Internal Market" and 3 "Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth" of Ukraine's EU accession negotiations, and EU ambassadors at Coreper agreed to send letters to Kyiv and Chișinău on presenting negotiating positions. Hungary, which had blocked the approval for several months, lifted its veto. An Intergovernmental Conference to formally open the two clusters could be held on 13 October, after EU member states agree on a negotiating position on 12 October.
