Germany blames Russia for failed drone attack on Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig airport
In the night of August 5, a drone carrying about 1.8 kg of Semtex struck but failed to detonate against a parked Ukrainian An-124 cargo aircraft at Leipzig/Halle Airport. A joint Telegraph/Welt am Sonntag investigation identified Russian national Oleg Levushkin as the suspected organizer and Belarusian agent Andrei Karshakov as the likely operative. On September 1 Germany officially accused Russia of the attack and announced countermeasures, including closing the Russian consulate general in Bonn.
