Alisher Usmanov
Alisher Usmanov is an Uzbek-born businessman whose business career has been based primarily in Russia. He founded the USM conglomerate, which controls assets in metallurgy, mining and digital services, including stakes in Metalloinvest and (historically) in Mail.ru Group. He was an early investor and former shareholder in Arsenal FC and has been ranked among Russia's wealthiest individuals. Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 he has been placed under personal sanctions by the European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States, and his assets in several jurisdictions have been frozen.
