Alexei Navalny
Alexei Navalny (1976–2024) was a Russian opposition politician, lawyer, and anti-corruption activist. He founded the Anti-Corruption Foundation, which investigated high-level corruption in Russia. Navalny ran for mayor of Moscow in 2013 and sought to challenge Vladimir Putin for the presidency in 2018. He was poisoned in 2020, survived, and later returned to Russia, where he was imprisoned and died in a penal colony in February 2024.
