Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (ZSU) are the military forces of the Ukrainian state, comprising the Ground Forces, Air Force, Naval Forces, Airborne Assault Forces, and Special Operations Forces. The General Staff serves as the supreme command body, subordinate to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence. Since 2022, they have been engaged in full-scale combat against the Russian invasion that began in February of that year.

Ukraine's military intelligence warns of disinformation campaign amid clash with SBU

Massive overnight Ukrainian drone and sea-drone strike hits Moscow region and Sochi port
Russia's Defense Ministry said it intercepted 416 drones overnight on September 2–3, as uncrewed surface vessels struck the port of Sochi and set fire to a Russian ship. Ukraine's Naval Forces confirmed it hit the supply vessel Nefrit in Sochi. In the Moscow region, drone debris hit an apartment building in Kubinka, near a Russian airbase, and a factory in Bolshoye Bunykovo.

Serial production of over 5,000 long-range combat drones for Ukraine begins near Munich
A joint venture of German-American defense company Auterion and Ukrainian partner Airlogix has started serial production of more than 5,000 long-range kamikaze drones for Ukraine at a facility near Munich. The order, placed by the German government and worth around 300 million euros, is to be fulfilled by mid-2027. The drones come in two variants, including one with a range of up to 1,500 km, and use AI to resist enemy electronic countermeasures.

Zelensky appoints Svyatoslav Zaits as commander of Ukraine's Ground Forces
President Volodymyr Zelensky on September 2 dismissed Hennadii Shapovalov as commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and appointed Svyatoslav Zaits in his place. The change was formalized by consecutive presidential decrees and follows Zaits' April 2026 appointment to command the 20th Army Corps.

SBU says its officers were attacked during FSB-terror probe in Kyiv; attackers found to be members of Ukraine's Defense Forces
Ukraine's SBU security service says its operational-investigative group was attacked during a search in a case involving an FSB-planned terrorist act against a Russian opposition figure in Kyiv. The SBU's Alpha special unit opened fire on the attackers, some of whom were wounded before being detained. The SBU later said the detained individuals belonged to a unit of Ukraine's Defense Forces.
