Zaporizhzhia National University
Zaporizhzhia National University is a public higher education institution in the city of Zaporizhzhia and one of the major universities in southeastern Ukraine. It was founded in 1906 as the Zaporizhzhia Commercial College and was later reorganised and expanded into a university during the Soviet period. The university has a classical structure with faculties in the natural sciences, humanities, technical disciplines and medicine, offering programmes across a broad range of fields.

Russian drone strike on Zaporizhzhia hits residential buildings, mall, and historic university building
Russian forces carried out a mass drone attack on Zaporizhzhia overnight into September 21, 2026, striking two multi-story residential buildings, a shopping center, and a building of Zaporizhzhia National University. Five civilians were injured — three men and two women — and emergency services conducted rescue and evacuation operations at the strike sites.
