Zapad (West) grouping
Zapad (West) is an operational grouping of the Russian Armed Forces, established as one of the theatre-level commands during the 2023 Russian military reform that replaced the old military districts. Subordinated directly to the Russian General Staff, it is responsible for operations on a particular axis of the war against Ukraine and is frequently cited in connection with fighting in northern Kharkiv Oblast and in Russia's Kursk Oblast.
