European Parliament
The European Parliament is the directly elected legislative branch of the European Union, representing the citizens of the EU member states. Together with the Council of the EU it adopts EU legislation, supervises the budget and exercises democratic oversight over the other EU institutions. Its official seat is in Strasbourg, with additional premises in Brussels and Luxembourg.

Commercial vessel Khoryv sinks off Romania after suspected drone strike

Pina Picierno, Vice-President of the European Parliament, announced a hunger strike on 20 October to draw international attention to the humanitarian situation in occupied Oleshky in Kherson Oblast. She is demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, access for food and medicine, and the safe evacuation of civilians who wish to leave the city.
