European Investment Bank
The European Investment Bank (EIB) is the European Union's lending arm, owned by the EU member states. Established in 1958 under the Treaty of Rome and headquartered in Luxembourg, it provides long-term financing for projects supporting infrastructure, energy, transport, health, education and small and medium-sized enterprises. Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the EIB has substantially increased its lending for Ukraine, including for the restoration of damaged energy infrastructure and support to the private sector.
