European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is an international financial institution founded in 1991 to support the transition to market economies and democracy across Central and Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. Its headquarters are in London. The bank provides loans, equity investments, and grants to private companies and infrastructure projects. Following Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the EBRD substantially scaled up its investments in the country, backing energy, transport, and private-sector initiatives.
