Yabloko

Yabloko (the Russian word for "apple") is a Russian liberal and social-liberal political party founded in 1993. It was established by the economist Grigory Yavlinsky together with Yuri Boldyrev and Vladimir Lukov. The party is known for advocating a market economy combined with a strong social component, democratic reforms, human rights protections, and a pro-European orientation for Russia. Yabloko has frequently faced difficulties in getting its candidates and lists registered for federal elections and remains one of the most prominent opposition projects outside the circle of Kremlin-loyal parties.
