X (formerly Twitter) is an American microblogging and social networking service founded in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, among others. Elon Musk acquired the company in October 2022 and subsequently rebranded it as X, phasing out the Twitter name. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
