Windows
Windows is a family of proprietary operating systems developed by Microsoft, first released in 1985 as a graphical environment running on top of MS-DOS and, from the mid-1990s, as a standalone platform for personal computers. Over the decades Microsoft has shipped numerous editions under the Windows name, including Windows 95, XP, 7, 10 and the current Windows 11, alongside server variants such as Windows Server. The system supports a vast ecosystem of third-party software and hardware and remains one of the most widely used desktop operating systems worldwide.
