Waffen-SS

The Waffen-SS were the armed combat formations of the Nazi Party's Schutzstaffel (SS), established in the 1930s and expanded into a major military force during World War II. They recruited volunteers from Germany, occupied European countries, and allied or collaborationist states, eventually fielding dozens of divisions on every front of the war. The Waffen-SS units were declared a criminal organization by the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg, and their formations were responsible for numerous war crimes and atrocities across occupied Europe.
