Ukrainian Naval Forces
Ukraine's Naval Forces are a separate branch of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, responsible for maritime defence. They include surface and submarine vessels, naval infantry, aviation and coastal defence units, with the headquarters in Odesa. Since 2014, and especially following Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the navy has expanded its strike capabilities, fielding unmanned surface vessels and anti-ship missiles that have been used against Russian targets in the Black Sea.

Ukraine's military intelligence confirms Group 13 destroyed Russian Bastion missile system in occupied Crimea
Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) confirmed that its special unit "Group 13" destroyed a Russian Bastion coastal missile system in occupied Crimea in August 2026. The system had been used to launch Zircon and Oniks missiles against Ukraine. Two fuel trucks and a command-staff vehicle were also hit during the same operation. HUR released combat footage on 4 September.

Ukrainian drone strike hits Russian support vessel Nefrit in port of Sochi
On 3 September, a Ukrainian unmanned surface vessel struck the Russian-flagged multipurpose support ship Nefrit in the port of Sochi, causing a powerful explosion and smoke. Ukraine's Naval Forces carried out and publicly claimed the attack, describing it as a blow to Russian logistics and military-economic infrastructure.

Ukraine strikes Moscow region and Sochi port in overnight drone and unmanned-boat salvo
Overnight on September 2–3, Russia said its air defenses intercepted 416 drones launched across multiple regions, while uncrewed surface vessels struck the port of Sochi. Ukraine's Naval Forces confirmed the Russian ship Nefrit was hit in Sochi, and a separate strike was reported on a Russian BK-16 boat in occupied Sevastopol. Drone impacts were reported in the Moscow region, including an apartment building in Kubinka located near a military airbase.
