Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence
The Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence is a standing committee of Ukraine's parliament responsible for legislation in the fields of national security, defence, and the activities of intelligence and security services. It reviews draft laws, oversees implementation of decisions by the National Security and Defense Council, and regularly summons senior officials of the security and defence agencies for hearings. The committee is chaired by a member of parliament elected by the Rada.

Ukraine's PM says Cabinet will finalise booking-system overhaul this week, insists critical enterprises unaffected
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky told BBC News Ukraine on 19 October that the Cabinet of Ministers will finalise this week changes to the conscription deferment (booking) system aimed at curbing large-scale abuses, while guaranteeing that genuinely critical enterprises will keep booking workers as before. He warned that monthly bookings and deferrals have been running into tens of thousands and, if the trend continues, "absolutely everyone" will soon be booked. The statement comes as parliament, the Ministry of Defence and business groups push back against an earlier draft that proposed cutting booking limits for the defence-industrial complex and energy sector from 100% to 85%.

Ukraine military intelligence chief calls Kyiv SBU–HUR shooting "unacceptable," denies "war between special services"
Head of Ukraine's military intelligence (HUR) Oleh Ivashchenko publicly commented on the September 2 shooting between SBU and HUR personnel in Kyiv, calling it an "unacceptable incident" and rejecting suggestions of a "war between special services." The shooting occurred in the Berezniaky district during investigative actions linked to Russian Volunteer Corps deputy commander Stepan Kaplunov. The SBU and HUR have given competing accounts of the incident, and the State Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Prosecutor General have opened pretrial investigations.
