US National Security Council
The US National Security Council (NSC) is an advisory body within the Executive Office of the President, responsible for coordinating US national security and foreign policy. It is chaired by the President and managed by the National Security Advisor. Its statutory members include the Vice President, the Secretary of State, and the Secretary of Defense, alongside other senior officials. The NSC was established by the National Security Act of 1947.

US envoys meet Putin in Moscow before talks with Zelensky in Kyiv
US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on September 5 after a 3.5-hour working lunch with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev. The meeting produced no publicly announced breakthrough, but the Kremlin described a temporary halt to strikes on Kyiv while Ukraine said it was prepared to reciprocate regarding Moscow. The envoys were expected in Kyiv on September 6.
