US Department of the Treasury
The United States Department of the Treasury is the federal executive branch agency responsible for the country's fiscal policy, taxation, and the management of public debt. It is headed by the Secretary of the Treasury, a member of the President's Cabinet who serves as the principal economic adviser to the President. The department oversees the production of currency and coinage through the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, administers the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and represents the United States in international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group. Treasury also has the authority to impose and lift economic sanctions against foreign states, individuals, and entities.

US envoys meet Putin in Moscow before talks with Zelensky in Kyiv
US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin on September 5 after a 3.5-hour working lunch with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev. The meeting produced no publicly announced breakthrough, but the Kremlin described a temporary halt to strikes on Kyiv while Ukraine said it was prepared to reciprocate regarding Moscow. The envoys were expected in Kyiv on September 6.
